About Us

Nebraska Afghan Community Center (NACC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization under the guidelines of U.S. law and operates under Federal Tax ID: 92-2346391.

NACC was established on March 17, 2021 to provide assistance to Afghan families throughout Nebraska. With the Afghan government's fall in August 2021, Afghans who worked with the U.S. Government in Afghanistan were forced to leave Afghanistan for various security reasons.

Nebraska received a significant number of Afghan families and individuals to Omaha and Lincoln. After the arrival of new Afghan families, the existing Afghan community leaders in Omaha and Lincoln organized a grassroot support network that provided initial basic support to Afghan families in need. All of the support was on a volunteer basis without an established or dedicated entity. Although this timely assistance proved to be very important, the unstructured nature undermined the long term effectiveness and sustainability of our community efforts. Thus it was deemed necessary to establish this new nonprofit organization and provide the Afghan community with more strategic and sustainable support.

As part of our efforts to assist the newly arrived Afghans, the Afghan Community in Omaha set up a taskforce of 14 community leaders. The taskforce met regularly to brainstorm and plan donation drives, volunteer groups and other activities to support the newly arrived Afghans. This influx of Afghan refugees in Omaha and Lincoln was overwhelming for local resettlement agencies and Afghan community members following the initial resettlement support period.

Nebraska Afghan Community Center (NACC) operates under five community initiatives.  Each initiative has volunteers to deliver cooresponding services and tasks.
