Community Self-Sufficiency Initiatives
Nebraska Afghan Community Center (NACC) self-sufficiency efforts include openning the space for families to come into the center and get assistance with a variety of needs such as translation, interpretation of documents, benefit applications such as SNAP, Medicaid, ADC, and SSI. The office is open on Saturdays and Tuesdays for walk-ins. During walk-in hours NACC volunteers help with with the following services:
- Reading of mail in Dari, Pashto
- Public benefit applications
- Change of address
- School related issues
- Connection with other services in the community
- Legal document interpretation and guidance
- Household items (clothes, household items, diapers, etc.)
- Connection with local food pantries
